December is that month when you catch up with those people who you go months not speaking too but will be your friends for life. I met up with a friend after work for dinner last minute and used Opentable to find somewhere between both our locations – Finsbury Square and Hammersmith.
Galvin Bistro de Luxe is a French restaurant in Baker Street. I’m not big on French cuisine but they were doing a cheap fixed price 3 course menu.
For starters we went for the game terrine which literally looked like cat food but was surprisingly nice if you like pâté. For dessert we both had the creme caramel but the highlight of the meal was the caramelised duck confit main served on a bed of haricot beans. The ducks skin was just the right level of crispy.
Galvin’s decor is perfect for a special date night or the kind of place you’d take your Mum. Unfortunately, the Galvin brothers have decided to close the de Luxe so I’d definitely visit before 10th February!
I’d recommend it for the Opentable’s fixed price menu but wouldn’t book à la carte.
